This has been helped by the likes of style icon Rihanna and the self proclaimed “Gangster Nancy Sinatra” Lana Del Rey who are all about the gold chains, denim, stars and stripes. Lana Del Rey more or less embodies the Americana style. With her big bouffant, perfectly curled hair, crop tops and hot pants and often photographed in a stereotypical 1950’s American settings, she is the perfect combination of modern day and vintage.
Her music is moody and melodic and again has a very 1950’s feel. Said to be inspired by David Lynch, her songs and videos often depict the dark side of the Hollywood scene. Check out the video for her new song “Video Games” a video that she claims to have made herself with clips of youtube videos that took her interest. Miss Del Rey seems to have it all. The look, the style, the talent, the creativity and we are excited to see what’s to come next from her!
Another star that is embracing the Americana look is Rihanna. In her new video for We Found Love ft. Calvin Harris she can be seen sporting over-sized denim, stripes, American flags and big curly hair. Rihanna, the girl with the ever evolving style, has infused her Americana style with acid wash jeans, biker boots and torn panty hose to create a very ’90s grungy look. The video depicts a love affair that is littered with substance abuse between her and the hot British ex-boxer turned model Dudley O’shaughnessy. It shows the dark aspects of the euphoria of being in love that a lot of people can probably relate to.
As dark and controversial as the video may be, we still think she looks amazing!
